What’s new, in 20 seconds
  1. Claude Dashboards, in beta on Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise since October 8, 2026, builds dashboards from Snowflake, BigQuery, Databricks, Redshift, ClickHouse or apps like Salesforce, and shows the SQL behind every chart.
  2. Claude Motion, in beta on Team and Enterprise only, writes code that animates your text, charts and images into short videos you can export as MP4. Anthropic says it uses no video generation model.
  3. Claude Docs, Slides and Design left beta and are available on every plan, including Free. The standalone Claude Design site stays up until December 14, 2026; its chats and comments won't carry over.

On October 8, 2026, Anthropic added two new output types to Claude: Claude Dashboards, which turns company data into dashboards that refresh, and Claude Motion, which turns reports and charts into short animations. Both are in beta. On the same day, Anthropic took Claude Docs, Slides and Design out of beta and made them "available on every plan, including Free."

This story is based on Anthropic's October 8 announcement, its Help Center setup articles for Dashboards and Motion, and claude.com/pricing, checked October 12, 2026.

The short version

  • Claude Dashboards (beta): Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise. It connects to data warehouses and apps, writes a SQL query per chart and shows you the query.
  • Claude Motion (beta): Team and Enterprise only. It writes code to animate your own content. It exports to MP4.
  • Docs, Slides, Design: out of beta, on every plan including Free.
  • Standalone Claude Design site: stays available at claude.ai/design until December 14, 2026.
  • Enterprise: Dashboards and Motion are off until an owner turns them on. Docs, Slides and Design turn on by default on October 15.

What is Claude Dashboards?

Anthropic's announcement says "Claude can turn your data into a dashboard that stays current." You connect a data source, ask a question in plain language, and Claude writes the queries and lays out the charts.

According to the Help Center guide:

  • Data sources: Amazon Redshift, BigQuery, ClickHouse, Databricks and Snowflake, plus apps connected to Claude, such as Salesforce.
  • Checkable numbers: Claude writes a SQL query for each chart, and each chart shows its query and when its data was last refreshed. "Click any number to see the query behind it," the announcement says.
  • Where it lives: each dashboard is an artifact saved in the Artifacts tab.
  • Sharing: dashboards are private to you by default. You share them with the Share button.
  • Usage: dashboards count toward your plan's usage limits.

Anthropic pitches Dashboards at "quick, exploratory questions." For deeper analysis, the help article suggests sending the dashboard to a BI tool. The announcement lists Amplitude, Grafana, Hex, Mixpanel, Omni, Perplexity, PostHog and Sigma as export targets, with Looker, monday.com and Tableau "coming soon." The New Stack's October 8 report gave a slightly different list, so check Anthropic's page for the current set.

An Anthropic spokesperson told The New Stack that "Dashboards use the data access people already have. A dashboard starts private to you." That matters: a dashboard can only show what your connector's credentials can already read.

What is Claude Motion?

Claude Motion "turns your content into short animations," such as explainers, animated charts and product walkthroughs, according to its Help Center guide. It "doesn't use a video generation model," so it can't produce realistic footage or people. Instead, Claude writes code that animates your text, charts, shapes and images. Because each animation is code, you can change one number or the timing of one scene without redoing the whole piece, either in chat or in a built-in editor.

You export finished animations as MP4. The announcement lists integrations with Adobe, Descript, HeyGen, Higgsfield, invideo, Luma AI and Runway, with Canva and Captions coming soon. Anthropic's help article warns that longer or more complex animations use more of your limit than a typical message. It doesn't publish a maximum length or output resolution.

Motion is in beta on Team and Enterprise only. It's on by default for Team and off by default for Enterprise.

How do I try Dashboards or Motion?

Per Anthropic's help articles, from any chat you can either describe what you want ("a dashboard of quarterly revenue by region") or select Output in the message box and choose Dashboards or Motion. You can also start from a template in the Artifacts tab. The announcement also mentions typing /motion, which the help article doesn't.

On Team and Enterprise, Owners and Primary Owners control both features in Organization settings › Artifacts. Enterprise owners can limit access to specific groups with custom roles.

Docs, Slides and Design are out of beta

Anthropic launched Claude Docs and Claude Slides, and moved Claude Design into conversations, on September 16, 2026. That announcement said "all three are in beta on paid plans," rolling out to Pro and Max first, with "Team and Free plans" to "follow soon." On October 8, Anthropic said they're out of beta and on every plan, including Free. Anthropic says people have made "more than 45 million docs, decks, and designs in Claude" since September 16. Slides can be downloaded as PowerPoint or PDF.

For Enterprise, Docs, Slides and Design turn on by default on October 15, and artifacts now support customer-managed encryption keys (CMEK).

What happens to the standalone Claude Design site?

Design now lives inside Claude. The standalone site at claude.ai/design stays available "until December 14," per the announcement. Chats and project comments in the standalone version won't be available after it closes, so export anything you need before then.

Why it matters

Anthropic is turning Claude from a chat window into a place where finished work gets made. Docs, Slides and Design reaching Free puts the full set of document tools in front of every user, while Dashboards and Motion are reserved for paying and business customers. For how the plans and usage limits fit together, see our Claude app explainer. Two related changes the same week: Claude now works inside Google Docs, Sheets and Slides, and Max and Team plans now include monthly API credits. Dashboards that pull live data via connectors build on the same plumbing as MCP.

What's confirmed, reported and uncertain

  • Confirmed (Anthropic): the October 8 launch, beta status, plan availability, data sources, export to MP4, admin controls, the October 15 Enterprise default and the December 14 Design site date.
  • Reported: The New Stack's spokesperson quotes, and its slightly different list of BI export partners.
  • Uncertain: how often dashboards refresh automatically, the maximum Motion length and resolution, and whether Dashboards or Motion will reach Free or individual plans.
