Model Context Protocol (MCP)
The Model Context Protocol (MCP) is an open standard for connecting AI applications to external tools and data. Anthropic introduced it in November 2024; a year later it was donated to a Linux Foundation-hosted foundation, and it is now supported across most major AI assistants and coding agents.
