Codex
Codex is OpenAI's coding agent, available in the terminal, in editors, in the cloud and inside ChatGPT. The name is older than the product: OpenAI used it in 2021 for a code-generation model that powered the first GitHub Copilot, and reused it in 2025 for the agent covered here.
